SELECTED IN WHL BANTAM DRAFT!

 

The Western Hockey League (WHL) held their Bantam Draft for 14 year old players (2002 birth year) on Thursday, May 5.  Colorado Thunderbirds, Ty Smilanic, was chosen in Round 3, 51st overall, by Regina.  Smilanic played Colorado Thunderbirds from 2012-2014, this past 2016-2017 season for the Thunderbirds 16U team coached by Angelo Ricci, and is committed to University of Denver.  

 

Colorado Thunderbirds also had 3 former Colorado Thunderbirds selected in the WHL Bantam Draft.  

  • True Crow, defense, drafted by Tri-City in round 6, 122nd overall
  • Aidan Thompson, forward, drafted by Portland in round 7, 143rd overall
  • Trey HIrschfield, goalie, drafted by Calgary in round 10, 205th overall

 

Congratulations to these players for the recognition they have achieved in the WHL Bantam Draft.  Colorado Thunderbirds is excited to continue to watch these young men develop as hockey players!
