The Colorado Thunderbirds continued excellence of placing elite student-athletes.....
The Colorado Thunderbirds program is pleased to announce that Brian Hawkinson has committed to play college hockey for Miami of Ohio RedHawks of the NCHC.  Hawkinson is currently a forward and assistant captain for the 16U National team.  He is a futures draft pick of the Tri-City Storm of the USHL.  The tremendously hard working 1998 born forward has played with the Thunderbirds program since the 2009 season.  “Brian is the epitome of a what a hockey player should be.  He competes each shift like it’s his last and attacks the hard areas of the ice.  Hawk never backs down from the physical part of the game.  He is quite possibly the best penalty killing and shot blocking forward our program has ever seen.  He has very good offensive skills and is extremely dangerous around the net.  We rely on Brian to play in all situations for our hockey club" said Angelo Ricci, Director of Hockey Operations/16U Head Coach.  Brian is the son of Chris and Linda Hawkinson of Aurora, Colorado.  His brother Brad was a member of the 2009-2010 Colorado Thunderbirds national championship team and is currently a redshirt freshman for the University of Denver Pioneers.  Hawkinson’s current teammate Ben Lown committed to the RedHawks last week.  The Thunderbirds organization continues to provide an avenue for the elite student-athlete to develop and advance to the highest levels of our game.
