The Colorado Thunderbirds program is pleased to announce that Max Gerlach has committed to play college hockey for University of North Dakota of the NCHC after his junior hockey career concludes.  Max was born in 1998 and hails from Flower Mound, Texas.  Since 2012, Gerlach has resided with Adam and Jenn Foote as his host family while playing for the Colorado Thunderbirds AAA Hockey program.  He is currently playing forward for the Thunderbirds 16U National team.  Gerlach was a futures draft pick of USHL Fargo Force and was also selected by Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL Bantam draft.

“Max is one of the most natural and pure offensive talents our program has ever seen.  His hard work commitment to learn how to play away from the puck is what has allowed him to develop into an elite player.  It has been very rewarding to see his maturation process as a player from his 14U year until now.  Both Fargo and North Dakota will be getting highly skilled player that will greatly enhance their proud programs" said Angelo Ricci, Director of Hockey Operations/16U National Head Coach.

The Thunderbirds organization continues to provide an avenue for the elite student-athlete to develop and advance to the highest levels of our game.  Gerlach is the fourth player from the 16U National team to commit to play college hockey.  He joins teammates Ben Lown and Brian Hawkinson who both committed to Miami of Ohio in early November and Trystan Isenhour who committed to Colorado College in early December.  Max is the son of proud parents Paul and Stacy Gerlach.  We wish Max continued success!
