Colorado Thunderbirds alumni, Jaccob Slavin, signed a three-year entry level contract with the NHL Carolina Hurricanes!  Carolina Hurricanes selected Slavin in the fourth round, 120th overall in the 2012 NHL Draft.  Slavin, a defenseman, played for the Colorado Thunderbirds from 2006-2011.  Jaccob currently plays for Colorado College where he has played the past two seasons.  Prior to playing collegiate hockey, Slavin played for the USHL Chicago Steel team.

Jaccob is the son of proud parents Rob and Wendi Slavin of Erie, Colorado, and has 3 siblings that has played, or is playing, for the Colorado Thunderbirds.  Jordan played Tbirds from 2006-2007 before playing on the North Dakota Women’s team; Josiah will be playing on the Tbirds 18U team this season and was drafted by the Tri-City USHL team; and Jeremiah will be playing on the Tbirds 11U team this Fall. The Slavin family has been a valuable resource for the Colorado Thunderbirds Association as they have been a host family for Tbirds out-of-state players for many years.  The Colorado Thunderbirds wish Jaccob and his family the best of luck as they continue their hockey career.
