The Colorado Thunderbirds program is pleased to announce that Phillip Knies has committed to play college hockey for Miami of Ohio after his junior hockey career concludes.  Knies played for the 2014-2015 Thunderbirds 16U National team and is drafted by the USHL Sioux City. Phillip is the son of proud parents Miro and Michaela Knies from Phoenix, Arizona.

The Colorado Thunderbirds organization continues to provide an avenue for the elite student-athlete to develop and advance to the highest levels of our game.  Knies is the sixth player from the 2014-2015 Thunderbirds 16U National team to commit to play college hockey.  He joins teammates Ben Lown and Brian Hawkinson who both committed to Miami of Ohio in early November, making Knies the third RedHawks, Trystan Isenhour who committed to Colorado College in early December, Max Gerlach who committed to University of North Dakota in January (Max has changed his decision and signed with Medicine Hat of the WHL), and Dayton Rasmussen who committed to University of Denver in April.  We wish Phillip and his former Colorado Thunderbirds teammates all the best in their continuing hockey career!
