The Colorado Thunderbirds are pleased to announce that former Thunderbirds player Jaccob Slavin was drafted on Saturday, June 23 in the 2012 NHL Draft.  Players from the Thunderbird program continue to have excellent opportunities and to benefit from the foundational training received in the Thunderbirds organization.

Slavin, a defenseman, was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 4th round, 120th overall.  Slavin hails from Erie, CO and played for the TBirds from 2006 – 2011. During the 2011-2012 season, Slavin suited up for the USHL Chicago Steel.  He will return to the Steel for the 2012-2013 season before he heads to Colorado College in the fall of 2013.  “Jaccob is a young man that just continues to get better each season.  He is such a special person both on and off the ice.  The Hurricanes organization are going to look very smart by selecting Jaccob, states Angelo Ricci, Director of Hockey Operations for the Colorado Thunderbirds.  We congratulate Jaccob and his parents, Wendi and Rob.
