CO THUNDERBIRDS
1ST ANNUAL
5K RUN/WALK
OCTOBER 13

** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE **

October 13th Event to Raise Money for Once-in-a-Lifetime Trip to Compete Against World’s Best Hockey Teams in Quebec

LITTLETON, CO, September 17, 2019 -- The Colorado Thunderbirds AAA Hockey Club announced that they will hold the First Annual Colorado Thunderbirds 5K Run/Walk at 8 a.m. on October 13, 2019, at de Koevend Park in Centennial, Colorado. The event is a club fundraiser as the Under-12 Team plans to compete against the world’s best youth hockey teams at the Quebec International Pee Wee Hockey Tournament in Quebec, Canada, in February.

The flat, beginner-friendly 5K Run/Walk will take participants through the picturesque de Koevend Park during peak fall colors and will offer breath-taking views of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Bridges, streams and even a short prairie trail section promise to make this a unique experience like few others in Colorado. A kids’ fun run of approximately ¼ mile will take place shortly after the start of the 5K.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome runners and walkers of all levels -- and other local hockey clubs -- to our first-ever 5K,” says Angelo Ricci, Executive Director and Coach for the Colorado Thunderbirds AAA Hockey Club. “We promise a memorable experience and are grateful for everybody’s support as we work to raise funds to help our 12U Team off-set the costs of having this once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

The Colorado Thunderbirds 12U Team is made up of hockey players from across the state, and includes players from Littleton, Denver, Vail, Parker, Lafayette, Longmont, Arvada, Highlands Ranch and Monument. The Team has been invited to compete against some of the best Under-12 youth hockey teams in the world in the two-week “Quebec International Pee Wee” tournament in Quebec, Canada, in February 2020.
