FORMER THUNDERBIRDS PLAYER,
CAL FOOTE,
WINS GOLD!

Congratulations to former Colorado Thunderbirds player, Cal Foote, and Team Canada, as they won the Gold Medal at the IIHF World Junior Championships!  Foote made his presence known early with one of the biggest plays of the tournament when he made a diving save to stop the puck from crossing the goal-line that had just gotten by his Canadian goalie.  Foote and Team Canada clinched the Gold Medal January 5 in what might have been the best game of the entire World Junior Championship when Team Canada pulled off a last minute win in a tight, exciting game against Team Sweden.

Cal Foote played Colorado Thunderbirds from 2009-2015 and was Captain of Coach Angelo Ricci's 2014-2015 Thunderbirds 16U Team that placed 3rd in the nation.  Foote currently plays for the Kelowna Rockets, along with his younger brother, Nolan Foote. Cal Foote was selected in the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft, #14 overall, by Tampa Bay Lightning.  Cal is the son of proud parents, Jenn and Adam Foote, a 20-year NHL defense veteran.

Congratulations to Cal Foote for winning Gold at the IIHF World Junior Championships!  Cal has joined the list of some former Thunderbirds who earned a medal at the World Junior Championships.  In 2017, Troy Terry captured gold with Team USA, and in 2016, Brandon Carlo and Scott Eansor won bronze.
