COMPETE IN
LHA THANKSGIVING TOURNAMENT!

Colorado Thunderbirds 11U, 13U, 14U, and 15U Teams had a busy Thanksgiving weekend filled with hockey at the 45th Annual Littleton Thanksgiving Tournament November 23-27!   At the final buzzer of the end of the competitive weekend, the Thunderbirds 13U and 15U teams were crowned Champions while the 11U and 14U Teams battled hard but came up just short.

Colorado Thunderbirds 11U Head Coach, Nick Combs, was proud of his 11U team and had this to say about their efforts, "The 11U team did not disappoint during the Thanksgiving tournament. Showing that there is no quit in these young men, they were able to go 5-2 in the tournament losing to Littleton Peewee AA in overtime in the championship game."  Adding that his 11U Team had the fewest goals against during the tournament, Coach Combs is looking forward to taking on some very strong teams in the upcoming weeks as he feels his team is up for the challenge!

The 13U Colorado Thunderbirds wrapped up a near perfect weekend this past Sunday, going 7-0, finishing it off with a 2-1 overtime thriller against rival Littleton Hawks Bantam AA Team, winning The LHA Thanksgiving Bantam AA Tournament. The T-Birds received solid play up and down their line-up getting goals from nearly their entire roster, plus steady, great goaltending from both goalies.  The Thunderbirds steam rolled through the weekend wrapping up a record of 8-3-1 in their last 12 games. "We are striving for consistency on a game by game basis, to start the season it's been tough. This weekend we established stringing games together with great puck movement, work ethic and physicality. We look to continue this into December and into the second half!" Coach Matt Frick

Colorado Thunderbirds 14U team battled some top teams in the 16U Midget Minor AA Division playing smart and competing hard in every game.  Thunderbirds got the edge over Regis 2-1, controlled the game against Orange County 6-1, beat Hyland Hills 4-0, and secured the number 1 seed in the tournament with a victory over Park City 5-1.  The 14U team lost in the semi-finals in a rematch with Hyland Hills 2-3 which earned the Tbirds 14U a tournament record of 4-1-0 with 19 goals for and 4 goals against.

The 15U Colorado Thunderbirds won the Midget Major AA tournament with a 7-0 record, outscoring opponents 29-6.  The 15s beat the Littleton Hawks Midget Major team 2-1 in the championship game in a hard fought battle. The 15U Tbirds team averaged over four goals a game, many coming on the power play.

There were many standout players during the weekend, and coaches were pleased with the efforts put forth by the Colorado Thunderbirds Teams.  We wish the Colorado Thunderbirds the best of luck and look forward to watching them in the second half of the season!
