ON AND OFF THE ICE!

Everyone that has been lucky enough to meet Angelo Ricci realizes quickly that Angelo is a true inspiration and legend both on and off the ice.  Ricci has over 20 years experience in the hockey industry as owner and skills coach of Ricci Hockey, skills coach of the NHL Buffalo Sabres, and has been leading the Colorado Thunderbirds AAA Hockey Association as Director and Head Coach since 2005 where he has led his teams to championship after championship while developing them on and off the ice to be successful at the next level.

Angelo Ricci is a rare breed that not only can he teach young players the necessary hockey skills to reach the next level, but Angelo also has the skills and talent to play at the most elite levels.  Ricci, a Chicago, Illinois, native, came to Colorado in January 1991 where he went to school at DU and played for the USHL Omaha Lancer's on the weekends.  Angelo still holds the record for all-time leading scorer for Omaha where he scored 72 goals and 104 assists for a total of 176 points during his two year stay from 1989-1991, and also holds the single-season points record of tallying 37 goals and 91 points during his 1989-1990 season.  Angelo was inducted into Omaha's Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005.  Ricci continued his scoring records while playing his NCAA Division 1 four years at University of Denver where he compiled 64 goals and 97 assists to accumulate 161 points in 144 games making Angelo the 12th all-time top scorer for DU, tied with Paul Comrie.

Angelo Ricci was inducted into Omaha Lancer's Hall of Fame September 23, 2016. Angelo's amazing legacy continues as a player, coach, and director.  Angelo resides in Denver with his wife, Melanie, and best friends, 10 year old Golden Retriever, Gordie, and 20 year old cat, Marley.  Colorado Thunderbirds is very proud to have Angelo leading our elite association.  Congratulations, Angelo, on being inducted into Omaha Lancer's Hall of Fame - Extremely well-deserved and earned!
