THUNDERBIRDS, GRICIUS, SIGNS
WITH WHL PORTLAND WINTERHAWKS!

Jake Gricius, Colorado Thunderbirds 1999 forward, has signed with the WHL Portland Winterhawks.  Jake played Colorado Thunderbirds 2010-2011 and the previous two seasons on the Tbirds 16U National Team for Coach Angelo Ricci which took 3rd in the Nation both 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons.  Other former Thunderbirds that have played or are currently playing for the WHL Portland Winterhawks include Seth Jones who played Colorado Thunderbirds 2006-2007 and is currently playing NHL Nashville, Seth Swenson, who played Colorado Thunderbirds 2007-2009, Dominic Turgeon who played Colorado Thunderbirds from 2008-2012 and drafted by NHL Detroit Red Wings, and Alex Overheard who played Colorado Thunderbirds from 2009-2014 and is currently playing for Portland Winterhawks.  

Portland Winterhawks Vice President, General Manager and Head Coach Mike Johnston had this to say about Jake Gricius and the Colorado Thunderbirds, "Jake comes from an organization that does a real good job of developing their players as they prepare to make the jump to junior hockey, which includes eight players who played in the WHL last year."
