THUNDERBIRDS CONTINUE DRAFT STREAK!

CONTINUE TO BE WELL REPRESENTED
IN 2016 USHL DRAFT!
 
The 2016 USHL Futures and Main Entry Drafts were held May 2 and May 3, and the Colorado Thunderbirds continue to position players for their next level of hockey.  The Thunderbirds had 7 current players selected and 1 former Thunderbirds chosen in the USHL draft.  Six of the current players selected in the 2016 USHL Draft were members of the Thunderbirds 16U National team which finished in 3rd place at the USA Hockey Nationals this season.
 
The 2016 USHL Futures Draft was held May 2, and the Colorado Thunderbirds had 3 current players and 1 former player selected from the Colorado Thunderbirds:  
  • Bryan Lockner, a forward, was drafted by Muskegon Lumberjacks in round 4, 54th overall  
  • Will Brown, a defenseman, was drafted by Sioux City Musketeers in round 7, 96th overall
  • Beck Moore, a forward, was drafted by Lincoln Stars in round 10, 155th overall
Former Colorado Thunderbirds, Noah Prokop, a forward, was also drafted by Green Bay Gamblers in round 6, 95th overall in the 2016 USHL Main Entry Draft.
 
The 2016 USHL Main Entry Draft was held on May 3, and the Colorado Thunderbirds was well represented with the drafting of 4 current players:
  • Jonah Giem, a goalie, was drafted by Tri-City Storm in round 6, 94th overall  
  • Mason Klee, a defenseman, was drafted by Lincoln Stars in round 12, 193rd overall
  • Nikolai Lyssogor, a defenseman, was drafted by Sioux City Musketeers in round 13, 199th overall
  • Brayden Nicholetts, a forward, was selected by Bloomington Thunder in round 16, 259th overall
All players will attend their team's main camp this summer and work to earn a spot on their USHL roster.  Congratulations to each of these players on being drafted in the USHL.  This a special day for all these young men.  The Thunderbirds continue to place our elite players in the top junior league in the country.  In the past seven years, the Colorado Thunderbirds program has been fortunate to have 70 players selected in the USHL Main Entry and Futures Draft.
